Memorial Weekend

Kal and I went to Ephraim for the Memorial Day weekend and had a magnificent time with his family. The food is the BEST part of the whole Scandinavian Festival. Although the Vikings who dress up and throw candy are pretty cool too! I loved this picture of Eva it just shows what an inexperienced mom she has :)

I realize how bad I am at this whole blogging thing but I have come to terms with it. We have finally moved into our new house and also had our baby girl Eva Marie Larsen. She was born April 24th at 1:22 in the am weighing in at 8 pounds 8 ounces. For me that was HUGE! We have spent the last month trying to get used to the idea of being parents. Poor girl is going to have to put up with us until we get the hang of things. For now I have been taking her to work with me and it has been fun. Life is definitely a journey I have loved all these new experiences.

I realized it was time to post something when I couldn't remember my log-in to my blog. I am horrible at this. Life just flies by and before you know it....yep it is 2009. So new things since September would consist of a trip to Taiwan, being pregnant, and building a house. Taiwan was such an interesting experience especially being four months pregnant at the time. The food and smells were about all I could handle. As we would walk down the street we would see severed, fried duck heads, pig snouts, blood rice cakes....BLECH! Still it was an amazing place to see.

I am now six months pregnant and that has been a new experience in itself. I am supposed to find out what we are having tomorrow so hopefully I will take the time to update to let everyone know.

And last of all the house...it is a work in progress. I guess I should say it is A LOT of work in progress.

Summer Fun

I couldn't believe this morning when I got in my car that it was only 40 degrees outside. BBRRRR!!! I am afraid we have seen the last of the really warm weather and fall is here. Although I can't help but love the changing leaves I am not ready to be cold. So much has happened most noteably the return of both my brother and sister from their missions in Taiwan. Returned missionaries...hmmm.. :) They are a lot of fun and I am so excited to have them home. Our family who once dotted the globe have all returned to our hometown of Mountain Green!! Just in case you were wondering about the photo and why BreeAnn and I are in our swimsuits we are in Lake Powell. Speaking of Lake Powell we took off for a little family vacation there the day after their Homecoming. Ahhh...I sure miss the warm water. Also, the little handsome dude to the left of me in the picture is none other than my LITTLE brother Jordan. Seriously where does the time go?! Zach was a little shocked to find he had to look up to Jordan when he returned. ;)

The ladies at the office gave me a cake yesterday for my birthday and it was just so fun I had to share it. If you notice from the photos how much a resemblence there is from the cake to my house. I guess I can't really call it my house it is just a hole hopefully someday to be a house. Nonetheless the similiarities are shocking! :) Notice the little dirt piles around the perimeter of the cake and the big hole in the middle! Thanks girls!!

I am so excited to have this home of ours. It is going to be a lot of work but I am thrilled!! I promised I would keep the family posted on where we are on our house and it isn't far but at least we have a hole and after four months of just trying to get the permits to dig the hole I am elated to be able to say we have a hole! So anyone who has built a home and has ideas or suggestions we would LOVE to hear them. We are newbies at this!

My family was "called" to build the 24th of July float for the Days of '47 Parade in Ogden. Now when I say called I actually mean we were given the calling from the Stake Presidency. To be honest I had no idea it was a real calling. Nonetheless after extremely long hours (especially put in by my mom) this is the final result. We didn't stay and watch the entire parade but we did stay long enough to see the float go down the road. All that work to drive a mile... I can now say however that I helped build a float. Mostly I just provided the food to those working on the float, but every little bit helps right. The workers have to eat :) It truly is quite the process and I will appreciate them more when I see them. Our fun little float took 1st in the religious category (I think they just gave awards to anyone who actually finished such a tedious task!)

GADZOOKS!!

You know something is good when the word "Gadzooks!" is used. For example today at work I decided it would be a good idea to tie a pull-string firework onto the office supply door (truly I should have thought that through, totally unprofessional, but super funny). Assuming eventually someone would go in there...my assumption was correct and I got a "Gadzooks!" out of the guy that opened the door! If that is not awesome I don't know what is! Unfortunately I do not have a photo of this event either.

First Time For Everything

So this past weekend was full of firsts! I am always up for trying something new and I got my fill of them. First, I actually wore a cowboy hat to a rodeo. Second, I rode a dirt bike for the first time. Although I have ridden 4-wheelers my whole life I have never been on a dirt bike. Third, I herded cows! The best part of all of this is I combined the dirt bike ride with the cow herding. If I wasn't wearing a helmet I probably would have worn my cowboy hat too! Could I actually be turning into a farm girl??! I am sorry to say I didn't end up with any pictures of the dirt bike cow herding experience. To be honest I wasn't worried about getting a picture as much as I was worried about keeping both wheels of the bike on the ground while making sure I was out of the way of the cows. However, next time I will be sure to get a few pictures for the record. Until next time....

1st/2nd Anniversary

Kal and I just celebrated what I like to call our 1st/2nd anniversary. Since I spent our first one eating a pizza by myself, and he spent it somewhere in Texas we thought we would take a little vacation for our second Anniversary. We took a trip back east to Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Washington DC, etc. I hadn't been to these places since the summer before my senior year in High School. I think I appreciated the history a little bit more this time :)

It is so fun to spend time with my friend again!!

Finally Kal has returned home from playing in the big sand box in the Middle East and it has been wonderful to have him back. I am so proud of him and for his willingness to serve his country! It has definitely been an experience being married to someone you don't live with :) So grateful to have such a wonderful husband...he is an inspiration in my life.
